Also known as candida albicans, thrush is a fungal infection caused by yeast that can affect breastfeeding. Generally yeast exists on the body and in the mouth, but it tends to grow when given the chance. Happy Labor Day

(Wo)man plans, God laughs. And boy did I get laughed at. With my first baby, I had planned on a vaginal delivery. Sure, I wanted the epidural to be started in the parking lot, but I actually did wait about 4 hours into contractions before asking the anesthesiologist for relief. But alas, my daughter wasn’t coming, even with Pitocin. The uterine contractions ended up making her heart rate drop to a dangerous low and I was wheeled into the operating room for emergency surgery. So for child No. 2, I was conflicted, at first. Pets are practice kids

Dogs and cats are often called starter children. They provide pet parents with unconditional love like a child would. They also require attention, food, water and medical care. Pets are a lot of responsibility, especially if you’ve never been able to keep a plant alive prior to getting your pooch or kitty.  For me, having my dog took me a step further in preparation for becoming a parent to a human baby. Oh, you're pregnant?!

You spend your whole teen-through-young adult life trying not to get pregnant. You miss a birth control pill and think THIS IS IT, I’M GOING TO BE A TEEN MOM. I remember thanking the heavens when aunt flow arrived sometimes, even if I’d used condoms and a second barrier again the dreaded pregnancy.
